A copper alloy angel (ten shillings) coin weight from the reign of Charles I. The circular coin weight has a diameter of 17.6mm, a thickness of 2.4mm and weighs 3.76g. Its original weight would have been 4.2g (Withers and Withers 1995, p. 14). On the obverse there is a crown with X, for ten, and s for shillings beneath. On the reverse is a depiction of an angel. The coin weight must date from between the start of the reign of Charles I in 1625 and 1642, when the angel denomination ceased to be issued (Withers and Withers 1995, p. 68).
