An incomplete contemporary copy of a silver crown of William III (1696-1702) dating to AD 1697. Third bust. Mint: London. Spink 3472. The coin appears deliberately cut revealing the copper alloy core beneath the silver plate. Obverse: Laureate draped bust right. Legend: GVLIELM[VS III DEI GRA] Reverse: Four shields within which are a harp, one lion rampant, three lions passant and three fleurs-de-lis, all around a central circle with the lion of Nassau within, creating a cruciform shape.
