A complete silver crown from the reign of Elizabeth I (AD 1533-1603), third issue, dating to AD 1601-1602. The obverse shows a crowned bust of Elizabeth I facing left with a legend reading ELIZABETH D G ANG FRA ET HIBER REGINA. The reverse depicts a square garnished shield over a long cross fourchée dividing the legend, which reads POSVI DEVM ADIVTOREM MEVM. The coin measures 42mm in diameter and weighs 28.67 grams. As North 1975, vol. 2, p. 113, no. 2012.

A counterfeit crown of Elizabeth I.
The coin is now dark grey and an original crown is of course gold. It is not clear of which metal this coin is made. There is a hint of yellow metal on one edge.
