A late Iron Age silver coin: a North Eastern half unit attributed to the Corieltavi, dating from Hazelgrove Phase 6, about 50 - 20 BC. As is usual, the flan is dished and one side has been struck from a very worn die, resulting in one face being almost blank, showing just traces of a boar motif. The other face depicts a celticised horse, facing right, with a solar rosette of eight pellets above. It is 12.5mm in diameter and 1.4mm thick. It weighs 0.45gm. References: Van Arsdell, page 245, number 884-1; Rudd, 2010, Ancient British Coinage, page 95, number 1833.

White metal possible coin. The finder kindly suggests this may be a Celtic coin, so a tentative identification as a silver half unit of the Corieltauvi is speculatively offered. However, the concavo-convex form is not particularly marked, the obverse is plain and the reverse worn to the point it defies this reporter's interpretation. Possibly ABC no. 1836 or 1839, Haselgrove Period 2 Phase 6, 50-20 BC. Obverse description: Possibly Boar. Reverse description: Probably Celticised horse left; if another feature is present more probably a kite with linear borders than a pelleted…

Silver coin. Silver half unit of the Corieltauvi, possibly issue inscribed VEP; if so, to be dated AD 15-40, ABC phase 8, Haselgrove period 3 phase 8, AD 10-40. Either very heavily worn or underweight; a close parallel was not noted in the ABC or Van Arsdell publications. Obverse description: Indistinct traces of a design. Reverse description: Celticised horse left with an arc above horse's back. At first sight the arc is pelleted, but it may have only two or three pellets, the others being part of the letters VEP. There is another arc in front of and above the head. Indisti…

Silver coin. Silver uninscribed half unit of the Corieltauvi, or North Eastern type, with an oval flan, cf Van Arsdell 855-857, especially 857-3, there dated to 55-45 BC. Reverse description: Celticised horse left with anemone above, ring and pellet, also trifid objects above and below horse - the latter are distinct from the ring motifs. Diameter (long axis): 1…

The reverse shows a stylised horse right. Part of the flan is missing, but the rest has the characteristic dished shape.
