A silver farthing, of Henry VIII's first coinage, with a portcullis initial mark, but of the portrait type. Mint of London. Barrie Cook comments that '...the obvious conclusion is that it represents a short-lived continuation of the traditional design, before the shift over to the portcullis design that is more familiar for this coinage.'

Silver farthing of Henry VIII.Withers notes in 2004, Halfpennies and farthings Edward IV VII, page 44, that coins of the first issue of Hebry VIII are almost identical to those of Henry VII. What distinguishes this coin as being of Henry VIII is the brush style, narrow hair and the Roman N. Therefore the type is North 1739 but with an open crown.
