Copper alloy coin. A small milled disc with outer circles and legends, the latter hinting at a Scottish origin. The form is comparable to that of English halfpenny and farthing tokens of the period 1650-1673, while the best match in size is with the twopence or Turner of the Earl of Stirling’s coinage of 1632-1639, which includes a reverse legend compatible with that suggested here – cf. A very worn, copper-alloy Scottish twopence, or thistle turner, of Charles I , AD1642-9. The obverse shows a crowned CR, possibly with a pellet dividing the letters, with an illegible inscription around it. The reverse, also very worn, probably shows a thistle, again surrounded by an illegible description.
