A Post Medieval copper alloy ten reis coin from Portugal, probably of 18thCentury date. Possibly Joao V of Portugal (AD 1706-1750) or Jose I of Portugal (AD 1750-1777). On the obverse is a crowned square shield bearing a cross. The surrounding inscription is very won and corroded, The reverse shows a large 'X' that is located towards the upper half of a circle flanked by two pellets either side. There is possibly a date located below the 'X' however this is no longer legible. The surrounding inscription is also very worn. The letters AL are visible. The token measures 33.69mm …
