A Post Medieval silver fourpence of Charles II (AD 1660-1685). Dated to AD 1679 on coin (Spink 3384). London mint. Coin has been bent into an S-shape to potentially act as a charm or token.  Coins with a double bend are not uncommon finds but their significance is not fully understood. According to Dr Kevin Leahy such 'Love tokens' were made using coins dating from the time of Elizabeth I (1558-1603) to the reign of Ann (1702-1714) with some Georgian examples.
