A broken and incomplete post medieval gold half pound of Elizabeth I (1558-1603), 'Second Issue' (1561-82; North 1994; Spink 2520B), mint: Tower (London), initial mark: castle dating AD1570-72. Ref: North 1991: 134; Spink 2016: 260. Obverse: Crowned bust left (ear showing), ELIZABE[TH DG ]ANG FR ET HI REGINA. Reverse: Crown over shield of arms, ER to right and left, SCVTVM[FIDEI PR]OTEGE[T] EAM.
