The thiness and low weight suggests it may be a forgery Diameter is approximately 17.48mm and wieght is 1.3g. The coin is corroded & largely illegible except for the reverse's crowned thistle.

A copper alloy Post Medieval Scottish coin; a sixpence, known as a Bawbee, of Charles II (1649-1685) dating from 1677-1679. The coin is damaged on the obverse and the reverse inscription is damaged between 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock and therefore the date is illegible. The coin is 24.1mm in diameter, 1.61mm thick, and weighs 6.24g. See Spink's Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands numbers 5626-5628.

The coin is made of lead alloy and is unusually thick, but is otherwise a good copy of Spink Volume II number 5628. The coin has been pierced with a circular hole through the centre. Part of the edge of the coin is missing.
