Silver cut half penny of Alexander III (1249-1286), First coinage (1250-c.1280) with voided long cross and stars, Type III with small head facing left with neat crown, moneyer Walter, probably at the mint of Dun (DVN). Spink 5043. The mint place is difficult to read appearing to be [ ]/WN or [ ]/VN, most likely DUN. Alternatives in the 'first coinage' for Walter are Montrose (MON) or Renfrew (RIN).
