A badly damaged medieval silver halfpenny dating 1279-c.AD1500, the bust suggesting this is most probably of Edward III (1327-77), Third 'florin' coinage (1344-51; types 6-13), not further defined. Ref: Withers and Withers 2002: 25-35.
The coin only survives as a fragment with around 1/3 to 1/2 of the coin no longer surviving. One edge is folded back and over. The broken edges of the coin are irregular and uneven, probably occurring after burial and it is likely that the fold also occurred post-deposition.
