A silver half penny of later medieval date. The coin is most probably an early issue of Henry VI (first reign) - possibly his plain issue (1427-30) - however, it is very difficult to ascribe thetype more precisely due to the lack of diagnostic features (initial marks, stops). The identification is based on the form of crown where the lis, side fluers and ornaments conjoin to give the impression of a band of annulets

Silver halfpenny from the second reign of Edward IV (1471-1483). The obverse has a crowned bust facing with the inscription EDWA[RD D]EI GR[A R]EX. The initial mark is a cinquefoil (five petaled mark) type XXI on its side, this dates the coin to 1480-1483. The reverse has a long cross which divides the coin and legend into four quarters. Each divided quarter has three pellets linked in an irregular trefoil. The legend reads: CIV[I]TAS LON[D]O[N]. Minted in the city of London.

Due to the smallness of the fragment, the fact that it is clipped and also double struck, a date range has been suggested to encompass the reigns of Henry IV, Henry V and Henry VI: 1399 - 1461.
Note:
Alistair Wardle has suggested: That this is a fragment of Henry VI halfpenny - as evidenced by saltire between n and R of hEnRIC
