A corroded copper alloy jetton of the 'Three Circles' type, struck at Tournai during the reigns of Louis XI (1461 - 1483) and Charles VIII (1483-1497). At some time it has been pierced for suspension. It is 24.9mm in diameter and 1.6mm thick. It weighs 4.52gm. Compare Mitchiner, Vol. 1, No. 602.

A copper Medieval French jetton, dating from the 15th century, struck in Tournai. It has a diameter of 26.46mm, thickness 0.79mm, weight 2.15g. It is similar to jettons from Mitchiner 1988. Jetons, Medalets and Tokens. The Medieval period Nuremberg vol 1 p. 228, for example no: 691, but with a blundered legend.

A cast copper-alloy French Dolphin jetton of Charles V to VII, c.1349-1440 AD. The dolphin badge relates to the dauphine of Viennois, which became linked to the French crown with the accession to the throne of John the Good in 1349, later passing down the male line through the eldest son of the King. The device continued to be used until Charles VII (c.1422-1440 AD) (Mitchiner, 1988: 182). This jetton is as Mitchiner, 1988: no. 489.

An incomplete copper alloy jetton of medieval date. One side of the jetton is decorated with what appears to be two flowers constructed of five raised pellets. These designs are separated by incised lines radiating from a central pellet.
Due to the lack of visible detail and any further contextual evidence it is not possible to identify or date this object any more closely.
The metal is a dark brownish-black colour and is very worn. The jetton is 18.3mm in diameter and weighs 0.6g.

Copper alloy French crown jetton. Jettons were primarily used as reckoning counters. The earlier crown jettons are thought to have been introduced during the reign of Charles V (1364-80), though only achiving widespread popularity at a later date (Mitchiner 1988, p.179) during the reign of Charles VI (1380-1422) (ibid. p.175). These early crown jettons appear to be fairly uniform in design, the crown usually being decorated and the reverse having a border formed from four arches (ibid. pp.179-182).
