An early medieval silver penny of Wiglaf of Mercia (first or second reign; 827-29, 830-40), new 'Lundonia' type (cf. obverse L29.2, North 401/1; reverse L30, North 584), dating to c.AD830, mint: London. Ref: Naismith 2011: cf. plate 4, L29.2a and L30a; North 1994: 97, 119. The coin is in poor condition, with breaks along the line of the horizontal pelleted lines on the reverse leaving only around 50% surviving.
