Type depicting quilled 'porcupine' crescent coiled right enclosing four bars. Minted Frisia. Abramson, 2006. Pg86. Coins of this period become debased from the second quarter of the 8th century. As this coin is of good quality silver it is likely to date to the early 8th century.

A complete early medieval copper-alloy styca in the name of Archbishop Wigmund of York (837-c.50). Mint: Northumbria (probably York), moneyer: Hunlaf. Ref: Abramason 2018, nos 1056-62. The coin is chipped and parts of the surface have flaked away, especially on the obverse, but it is otherwise in good condition with little visible wear. The reverse is struck off-centre. Measurements: 13.31mm in diameter, 1.34mm thick and 0.91g in weight.
