A copper-alloy Early-Medieval coin, a Styca of Redwulf dating from AD 844. Moneyer is Wendelberht, at the mint of York.  Diameter 12.4mm; thickness 1.1mm and weight 0.94g. Central cross of Pirie type 1 on both faces. North number 198, on page 72. Compare EMC number : 1030.0137 for an example with the same reverse legend.

A copper-alloy Early-Medieval coin, a Styca of Archbishop Wigmund of York, minted in Northumbria by the moneyer Hunlaf (Group C), and dating from AD 837 - 854. There is a central cross of Pirie type 1 on both faces. Diameter 12.6mm; thickness 0.9mm and weight 0.85g. See North 1963 vol 1 English Hammered Coins page 45, reference 196 and also Pirie (1982) plate IV number 382. Compare EMC number : 1006.0051 which has the same punctuation in the reverse legend.

A copper alloy hammered coin: probably an Early Medieval Northumbrian styca of Eanred or Aethelred II, dating from AD 810-848. The coin is mostly illegible, with the central motifs and one inscription no longer legible. The extant partial legend probably reads [---] ED R[...], very tentatively suggesting, if this is on the obverse, a regal issue of either Aethelred (EDILRED) II, AD 840-848, or of Eanred (AD 810-840). Mint of Northumbria. The coin has a sub-oval flan with a maximum diameter of 12.92mm, and a thickness of 1.00mm. It weighs 0.67g. Compare SWYOR-7D9846, and see the hoard…
