An fragment of a Roman, struck or hammered, copper alloy coin, denomination possibly an As or nummus AE1/2 or follis of unknown Emperor. Obverse: Possible vague head outline. Inscription: Illegible. The coin is extremely worn and in poor condition with extensive corrosion, irregular edges, very pitted surface and completely broken through forming a hole at one point. The remains of a copper alloy early Roman bronze coin. The fragment is irregular in plan and profile and seems to have been altered by severe uncontrolled heat, creating a metalic blob similar in patina to many early Roman coins; sesterti, dupondi or asses. Due to the distortion a direct parallel has not been found.
