A Post Medieval debased silver groat of Henry VIII (AD 1509-1547), dating AD 1542-44. Similar examples can be found in North (1975) nos. 1797-1799. Minted in York. The coin has been pierced in the centre. The silver coating from this coin has been completely removed so that only the copper alloy remains.

However, one side bears a counter-stamp: letters WP with a star above, in modern (18th to 19th-century) style. As its completeness is uncertain, so the original denomination remains unclear, though from its mass this must have exceeded a threepenny value for a post-medieval coin. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1800.
