A small portion of the coin is missing and the surfaces are slightly worn and corroded. It measures 15.5mm in diameter, 1.3mm thick and weighs 1.43g.

A Roman silver coin; a siliqua of Valentinian (AD 364-376). There is a large chip out of the flan at 9 o’clock on the obverse. It is 16.9mm in diameter and 1mm thick. It weighs 1.21gm. The coin was minted in Lyons in 364 - 367. For reference see RIC IX, p. 43, no. 6c. The coin appears to be slightly clipped.

A copper-alloy core of a contemporary copy of a Roman siliqua of Valentinian I, c.364-367 AD. Reverse: RESTITV-TOR REIP, Emperor standing facing holding labarum and Victory on a globe. Traces of an added white metal coating are visible on all surfaces. This coin appears to copy RIC IX no. 7a. Nummi were struck of this type, but they have an officina letter after ANT for the mintmark (c.f. RIC 11a) Comparison of the style of the coin with siliquae and nummi in the British Museum collection suggests the coin is a contemporary copy, probably made in the West. It is interesting to note …

The coin has a diameter of 17.9mm and is 1.4mm thick. It weighs 2g. It was minted in Lyon in 364 - 367. For reference see Roman Imperial Coinage volume IX, page 43 number 6b.
