Similar irregular copies are illustrated in catalogues of the Cunetio hoard on p.160, pl.34, no.2875:2 and from the Normanby hoard on p.205, pl.32, no.1832/3, but this example is more sketchy.

It weighs 2.51g. The legend and design seem to be confused, suggesting that it is a barbarous radiate (a contemporary copy). This coin is included in Sam Moorhead's corpus for RIC and has been published in the British Numismatic Journal Coin Register (BNJ 2009, p. 261, no. 32).

A forger's hoard. This record and the associated records linked to this one are for 121 coins or blanks which were found in around 1994. The finder also found a fragment of copper alloy rod, a sherd of courseware pottery and a brooch. Some coins (not included in the above total) were given to the farmer. From a study of the material it is most likely that this constitutes a forgers' hoard which consisted mainly of metal blanks, destined to be struck into coins. A forger's hoard. This record and the associated records linked to this one are for 121 coins or blanks which were found in around 1994. The finder also found a fragment of copper alloy rod, a sherd of courseware pottery and a brooch. Some coins (not included in the above total) were given to the farmer. From a study of the material it is most likely that this constitutes a forgers' hoard which consisted mainly of metal blanks, destined to be struck into coins.
