Unattributed Mint. RIC V, pt 2, p. 535, no. 880. Coin in fair condition, but Reverse offstruck  towards 8 o'clock. Dimensions.  Diameter 19.10mm, thickness 2.06mm, and weight 3.0gm.  Die Axis 8 o'clock.

A Roman copper alloy radiate of Carausius (AD 286-93) Reece Period 14. Reverse: LAETITIA AVG, depicting Laetitia holding standing left, holding wreath and anchor. No mintmark / unatttributed mint. RIC V, pt 2 - This is only the second coin of its type known, the other piece being in a private collection. The obverse legend, VIRTVS CARAVSI, proclaims the 'courage' of Carausius, matched by his military attire. This coin was struck in the first years of his reign.

This reverse type is known on a coin from the Little Orme's Head Hoard (Numismatic Chronicle 1956, no. 346). It is either a very early coin engraved by an inexperienced engraver or a contemporary copy. Diameter: 18.50 mm Weight: 2.58 g

The obverse legend is probably [IMP CARAVSIVS] P F AVG. RIC V, pt 2 p. 543, cf. no. 1020. There are five examples of this scarce coin in Sam Moorhead's corpus for the new RIC, one of which is in the British Museum and another which was found in the Blackmoor Hoard (no. 20493).

Copper alloy radiate of Carausius (AD 286-93), probably [VBER]ETA (AV), Cow standing right being milked by milkmaid. Mintmark - // (RSR). RIC V, pt 2 -. Although not listed in RIC, this appears to be the seventh example of this coin recorded in Sam Moorhead's corpus for the new RIC, one of which is in the Ashmolaen Museum, Oxford; RSR radiates are scarce and are rarely well-preserved. It has been argued that RSR coins were struck at the London Mint, but this is yet to be determined. Weight 2.80g; Diameter 17.8-18.6mm. Identified from image kindly supplied by the Finder.

Copper alloy radiate of Carausius (AD 286-93) (Reece Period 14), COMES AVG, Victory advancing right, holding wreath and palm. Unatttributed Mint. Not recorded in RIC V, pt 2. The obverse legend has a die engraver's error, the I in Carausius being omitted: IMP C CARAVSVS P AVG. The intended legend would have been IMP C CARAVSIVS P AVG. Three other coins with this reverse type are known, all with different obverse legends: IMP CARAVSIVS P AV, IMP CARAVSIVS P F AVG and IMP C CARAVSIVS P F AVG. It does not appear to share a reverse die with the other specimens.
