Copper alloy radiate of Carausius (AD 286-93), probably [VBER]ETA (AV), Cow standing right being milked by milkmaid. Mintmark - // (RSR). RIC V, pt 2 -. Although not listed in RIC, this appears to be the seventh example of this coin recorded in Sam Moorhead's corpus for the new RIC, one of which is in the Ashmolaen Museum, Oxford; RSR radiates are scarce and are rarely well-preserved. It has been argued that RSR coins were struck at the London Mint, but this is yet to be determined. Weight 2.80g; Diameter 17.8-18.6mm.
