Silver coin. Probably a denarius of an indeterminate Roman ruler, issue of 43-260. Burnt and crumpled with the loss of all features. Though early Roman material appears in the vicinity, the finder credibly suggests an association with Early Anglo-Saxon burials. As other finds suggest the presence of the cremation rite as well as inhumation, the poor condition of the coin might suggest it has passed through the pyre. Suggested date of reuse: Early Medieval, 475-550. Diameter: 19.5mm, Weight: 2.44gms

A silver imperial denarius of uncertain date - probably c. AD 80-220. The coin is heavily worn and abraded as well as loosing much of its surface (especially on the reverse) due to the nature of the acidic soil in the area. The style of the head suggests an early dat around the period AD 80-120 but the inscription is lost as is most of the reverse face.

Possible silver coin. Flat discoid object which appears to have been burnt, leaving its surface bubbled and pitted overall. The diameter and mass may be consistent with that of an early Roman denarius of good silver. Suggested date: Early Roman, 43-200. Diameter: 18.2mm, Weight: 3.58gms
