A silver denarius of the emperor Maximinus (AD 235-8), dating to the period AD 235-236. (Reece period 11). The obverse depicts a laureate, draped and cuirassed bust facing right and is inscribed IMP MAXIMINVS PIVS AVG. The reverse depicts Providentia standing left and holding a baton over a globe and cornucopiae and is inscribed PROVIDENTIA AVG. Mint of Rome. RIC vol IV, pt. 2, p 141, no 13. The obscured head means it is not possible to be sure if this is a 235 or 236 issue.

The coin has a mottled orange-brown discolouration over the majority of its surface but where this has spalled the underlying silver can clearly be seen.
