A silver Roman denarius, apparently a plated contemporary copy, of Julia Paula (AD 219 - AD 220), dating to the period AD 219 - AD 220 (Reece Period: 10). PROVIDENTIA AVG reverse type, depicting Providentia standing left holding cornucopiae on right and a wand or sceptre on left, globe at feet. Prototype Mint: Eastern Mint / Antioch. see BMC V, pl. 92, nos. 11-15 for similar obverse style.
The prototype for this coin type does not appear in RIC or BMC - PROVIDENTIA AVG is not listed for Julia Paula, suggesting the copy took the reverse from the coin of an emperor. There is a smal…
