The style and patina of this coin are unusual and the National Finds Adviser would need to handle the coin to determine when it was produced.

Unusual Roman coin: this appears to be a copper alloy core for a plated contemporary copy of a silver denarius. The obverse inscription does not make sense with the portrait. It looks like Macrinus (217-8), although the inscription is not consistent with him.
