A contemporary lead-alloy copy of a silver denarius of Commodus dating to the period AD 181 to 182 (Reece period 9). TR P VI(I) IMP IIII COS III P P reverse type depicting figure standing left with cornucopiae. As Mint of Rome. cf. RIC III, p. 367 passim. The coin has been squeezed with tongs and there is a small semi-circular cut-out at 10 o'clock on the obverse.
