A silver denarius found during the Crewe & Nantwich Metal Detecting Club Rally on 09/03/14. The obverse features the bust of Faustina facing right with the inscription 'DIVA FAVSTINA', on the reverse is a robed female figure facing left and the inscription 'AETER/NITAS'.

Silver plated contemporary copy of a denarius of Faustina I (DIVA FAVSTINA), AVGVSTA, prototype struck at Rome, c. 141-50. RIC II c.f. 362
This little coin purports to be a genuine Roman silver denarius of Faustina the senior (Faustina I). It also carries the 'diva' inscription on the obverse, indicative of it having been struck after her death and deification in AD141. However, all is not as it should be, this coin is a 'Fourée', or an ancient fake, having a copper alloy core wrapped in a thin silver foil.
