Incomplete silver denarius, possibly of Faustina I, dating to c. AD 138-61 (Reece Period 7), unclear female figure left, holding patera and [?]. Mint of Rome Surface is brown - dark grey with shiny silver areas. Surface is pitted and decoration is indistinct. A notch-shaped part of the top edge is missing, the surface of the missing area appearing to be fractured and showing some green corrosion. Possibly the object has a copper alloy core and silver surface, which would mean it is a contemporary copy. 17.70 mm diameter, 2.18 mm thick. 2.7g

A worn silver denarius, struck in commemoration of the deified Faustina I under Antoninus Pius, dated to the period AD147-161 (Reece period7). The obverse shows a draped bust of Faustina Senior, facing right with hair coiffed and in a low bun behind. The legend reads DIVA [FAVST] IN [A]. The reverse depicts Juno veiled, seated right, holding a transverse sceptre. The worn legend reads AVG [VSTA]. Silver denarius of Faustina I, commemorative issue, minted in Rome, c.141-50. Reverse- CONSECRATIO; Peacock walking right This coin has been deliberately clipped and was found in the same field as treasure case 2007-T391, another clipped denarius and a silver trumpet brooch which has had the foot cut off.
