A complete silver denarius of the Roman period from the reign of Augustus (BC27-AD14). RIC I, no.207, c.2BC-AD5 Obverse description: Laureate head right. Obverse inscription: [CAESAR] AVGVSTVS DIVI F PATER PATRIAE Reverse description: Gaius & Lucius standing front, each with a hand resting on a round shield, a spear, & in field above, a lituus right & simpulum left Reverse inscription: AVGVS[TI F COS DESIG] PRINC IVVENT, C L CAESARES. Minted in Lugdunum (modern Lyon). The coin is in a good condition with a little wear on both faces.
