A silver plated contemporary copy of a denarius of Marcus Aurelius (AD 161-180). Hybrid copying an obverse type of Marcus Aurelius dating to AD 163-6 and a reverse type proper to Lucius Verus dating to AD 164-5 (Reece period 8). Reverse: TR P V IMP II COS II, Roma advancing left, holding Victory and trophy. For reverse prototype, cf. BMC IV, p. 437, no. 380. The coin has turned dark grey in colour, with patches of light green corrosion on the reverse. Dimensions: diameter: 16.89 mm; weight: 2.32g.
