Roman silver coin; a plated denarius of the Civil Wars period, AD 68-9 (Reece Period 3), minted in Spain and with the bust of probably Genius on the obverse, a cornucopia behind the bust. There is no legend visible on the obverse, but may have been behind the bust. The reverse depicts Mars, namked except for a helemt right, holding javelin and a round shield, with MARTI VLTORI. Contemporary copy of probably RIC Vol. I, p. 204-5, No. 17.

A Roman silver coin: a denarius of Tiberius dating from AD 14 - 37 (Reece period 1), the reverse legend PONTIF MAXIM (retrograde). The reverse depicts a female figure, seated right on a chair with ornate legs, holding a sceptre and olive branch, a single line below. The mint Lyon. Reference: RIC I, number 30. The coin is 19.3mm in diameter and 2.1mm thick. It weighs 3.5gm. It should be noted that modern reproductions of this coin exist and the bumpy surface of the field may suggest that this coin is a copy.
