The coin has a very flat flan, with both obverse and reverse struck off-centre, and appears to show signs of at least post-depositional wear if not use wear. Similar to Hobbs nos. 33-34.

A thick copper alloy coin, dished reverse but flat and worn obverse. Damaged. Probably a contemporary copy of a gold stater, some similarities to Catuvellauni/Trinovantian types but no close parallel identified in Van Arsdell or Hobbs. Oval flan 15.5mm x 18mm. Philip de Jersey comments: We have records of three other examples of this type. It appears to be a very base gold stater which accompanies one of the silver early pattern/horse types of the Iceni (VA 679).
