Obverse: MARCIA OTACIL SEVERA AVG; Diademed and draped bust right
Reverse: SAECVLARES AVGG S C; Low column / cippus
This coin was struck to celebrate the Saecular Games, held as part of the celebrations of the 1000th Anniversary of the Foundation of Rome (753BC) in AD 248.

A cast contemporary copy, Limesfalsum, of an as of Otacilia Severa (wife of Philip I, 244-9) with a reverse showing a bust of Nero, possibly cast from a coin of Lugdunum. This is a most peculiar piece and appears to have no parallel.

It is possible that this coin is actually a limesfalsum because there are two cast examples of this type on the PAS Database - HAMP-B7FFF6 (5.25g) and NARC-53510E (5.4g) - which are also of a similar weight to this coin (4.76g). Without an image, it is not possible to prove this.
