A copper alloy Roman coin; probably an As which is very worn. Asses were issued from 23BC - 260 AD. A bust facing right can be seen on the obverse, possibly of Domitian (81 - 96), and a seated figure on the reverse which is possibly Annona or one of two captives. The legends are illegible. The coin has a diameter of 27mm and is 2.7mm thick. It weighs 6.5g.

Mid 1st-Mid 3rd Century. Roman copper alloy coin, an as or a sestertius, possibly of the Emperor Domitian. Length 27.4mm, Width 26.5mm, Thickness 2.7mm, Diameter 27.4mm, Weight 6.5g. Obverse: Bare head right with long neck and clear profile. Inscription: Illegible. Reverse: Very corroded - no details visible. Inscription: Illegible. Some wear and very badly corroded condition, only a few details of the profile visible and no details on the reverse at all. Ref. Coins of England and the UK, Spink 2009, page 48-57 and page 51.
