A very worn, and double-pierced copper alloy coin, probably a halfpenny of George I (AD 1714-1727). There is a bust on the obverse and although it is very worn it appears to be facing right. The reverse may depict the seated Britannia holding a spear. There are two holes that have been neatly pierced although one has clipped the edge of the coin. The two holes are quite large, much larger than usually seen on pierced coins. The coin appears to have been worn before it was pierced, so the piercing may have taken place a considerable time later. It may have been reused as a type of butt…
