Copper alloy William and Mary Halfpenny. The obverse depicts the conjoined busts of William of Orange and Mary Stuart. Inscription reads 'GVLIELMVS [ET] MARIA'. The reverse depicts Britannia seated. Inscription reads 'B[RITA]N NIA'. Coin too worn to see a year date. Coin shows copper corrosion so dates to 1694 as the tin Halfpennies were replaced by copper coins in 1694 according to Spink (2012), p.348. Similar examples can be found on the PAS database at CORN-CF6960 and PUBLIC-1B2979. Diameter: 2.89mm; Thickness: 0.21mm; Weight: 10.80g

A clipped, pierced and worn silver coin; a post Medieval halfpenny of Henry VIII (AD 1509-1547), second coinage dating to 1526-1544, unclear initial mark. London mint. North (1991) no: 1815. The coin has been pierced in the middle of one reverse quarter, through the king's eye. There is displaced metal on both faces, perhaps suggesting the hole was punched twice, once from each face. The hole is less than a millimetre in diameter. The coin is 9.8mm diameter (clipped) and0.6mm thick. 0.3g.
