Obverse: Crowned shield of arms with the top half of a rampant lion in a stylised sea and an inscription LUCTOR ET EMENTOR
Reverse: star, castle, star across the top with ZEE/LAN/DIA/1740 in four lines.
The legend translates as STRUGGLE AND ARISE which is the motto of Zeeland.

The obverse depicts the Coat of Arms of Zeeland, Netherlands a Dutch lion in sea on shield with crown. The reverse probably depicts the monogram VOC (Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie) for the Dutch East India Company but no discernible date.

A complete, worn and bent post-Medieval copper-alloy coin; a duit of Gelderland, provinces of the Netherlands dating from AD 1600 - 1795. Compare with similar coin PUBLIC-D4E266, SUR-80CBB3 and NMS-735F46. The coin is 21.3mm in diameter and 1.1mm thick. It weighs 2.21g. The coin has a slight fold across the flan and is very worn.
Obverse legend: [IN DEO EST SPES] NOSTRA; with a partial square shield visible. This is probably the crowned arms of Gelderland (two lions rampant, facing, within square shield).

The obverse features the inscription (star) A (star) ZELAN/DIA/ over three rows, all surrounded by a wide border of draperies. The year is illegible
The reverse depicts a crown over a shield-like border surrounding waves in lower portion with upper portion indistict - but very probably a rampant lion emerging out of water. The legend is illegible.
