A Post-Medieval French copper alloy coin: double tournois of Louis XIII (AD 1610-1643). Barrie Cook, The British Museum, states that it is stylistically a little unusual, however, there were lots of contemporary counterfeits of the French copper coinage at this time, and it can be hard to be sure on worn specimens. The left-facing bust is not usual, but did appear on some issues at the end of the reign, so it could belong to the 1640s.
