Copper alloy 17th century trade token of Jacob Voll, a Baymaker of Colchester. See Mason, 1902, Ancient tokens of Colhester, page 61. In 'The lives and wills of Essex token issuers', Judson, 1987, page 91, we learn that following his death in 1689, Jacob Voll left his house, situated in the parish of St Peter's, with all his goods and stock in it to son Jacob, presumably the issuer of this token. Written records also reveal that Jacob Voll, baymaker had a sale on February 15th, 1698.

They may have been produced as a form of working class low denomination currency associated with rural areas (Bailey 2000 pages 13-14).
