Post Medieval copper alloy coin weight, 11.6mm long and wide and 1.6mm thick. The object is in a worn condition with a brown patina and weighs 1.33 grams. The weight has very faint traces of design which may show a crown or a tudor rose, which suggests it may date to the reign of James I or Charles I.

A copper alloy square coin weight of James I, equal to a unite (20 shillings). Obverse: laurelled(?) bust, facing left, within a circular pellet border. Reverse: crown at top, XX in centre, S at bottom, all within a circular pellet border. This is a coin weigh for a unite, which was worth 1 pound of gold. First produced in 1604, this initially had a value of 20 shillings (until 1612 when the price of gold rose, making it equal to 22 shillings). Each face is 18mm square.
