A Post-medieval copper alloy coin weight, dating to AD 1604-1619. The weight is circular in plan and flat in cross section, and is stamped bifacially. One face depicts a double arched crown surmounting XI over S. The other depicts a right facing bust with the insciption: [I R M] BRITAN. Both are within a pelleted border. Dimensions: diameter 16.5mm; thickness 2.5mm; weight 3.85g. Such coin weights correspond to the double crown of James I's second coinage, comparable examples can be seen recorded on this database, for example LEIC-B5F893.

Cast copper alloy square coin weight of unknown ruler but probably dating to the post medieval period. This square coin weight has been badly abraded and the detail is indistinct on both faces. It is most likely to be a weight of James I (as I think one face has a thistle on it). The coin weight measures 11.2mm x 11.2mm x 5.3mm and weighs 3.64 grams (56.6 grains or 0.13 ozs).

A flat and square copper alloy coin weight. Much of the detail is still clear. On the obverse there is a crown with the letter C surmounted by a crown to the left of it. Underneath, the numerals XXII, and below these the letter S. The reverse is very worn but you can make out what might have been a bust of the King. These markings indicate that this weight dates from the reign of James I (AD 1612-19). It was used to weigh Unites of James’ revalued 2nd coinage. The surface of the weight is pitted and is a dark brownish-green colour.

On the obverse side a right-facing bust of the king sits within a beaded circular border. To the right of the bust are the letters "BRI". The reverse is too worn to make out. The weight measures 13.1mm long on its side, by 3.1mm thick and weighs 4.77g.

Cast copper alloy coin weight for a Thistle Crown of post medieval date (1601-1620 AD). The coin weight is square in plan and sub-rectangular in section, with a slightly bowed profile. It measures 13.1mm in length, 12.9mm in width, and is 1.8mm thick. It weighs 1.86 grams (0.066oz or 28.6 grains). One side of the coin weight depicts a crown with IIIIS below it and 4D 1/2 below that. All these elements are contained within a circle formed from sub-oval pellets. The reverse has a crown with "IIII S" below (Four shillings ?) and, below this a "D", bounded by two symbols - the one on the left resembles a fleur-de-lys, and the one on the right is similar to an "A". It is all contained within a beaded circle.
