An incomplete struck/ hammered brass jetton of Hans Krauwinckell II, dating between AD 1586 (when he became a master) -1635, when he died (diameter: 21.4mm; thickness: 0.3mm; weight: 0.61g). The jetton bears the name ‘Hanns’ to define Hans Krauwinckel II from his uncle Hans I, who also issued jettons. It is an example of a rose and orb edition and has regular die axes, always aligned at 12 o’clock. The jetton is slightly worn but in a fair condition and is broken around the edges. The obverse shows three alternating crowns and lis around a central flower and reads HANNS KRAVWINCKELL IN N, with a flower as initial mark. The reverse shows the Reichsapfel, or Imperial orb, and reads GOTTES[…]ACH[.]REICH. Ragged edges. Hans Krauwinckel was making tokens in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Diameter 20.8mm, thickness c.0.3mm, weight 0.55g.
