A complete post-medieval copper-alloy laurel (20s) coin weight with the official counterstamp/verification mark of James I (1603-1625). The coin weight is square in plan. Length: 18.8mm; width: 19.2mm; thickness: 3.3mm. Mass: 7.8g. On the obverse is a raised laureate bust within a circle of pellets. On the reverse there is a raised crown surmounting the value - XXs (i.e. 20 shillings). In the top left corner of the reverse there is the official counterstamp/verification mark of James I. As discussed in record references KENT-F12E34 and HAMP-483F40, during 1689 and 1690, James II operated a military campaign in Ireland from where he planned to mount an invasion of England, having been deposed by Mary and William of Orange. During this time, copper alloy emergency coinage was issued by James II to pay the troops. The use of secondary metal for the coinage (e.g. from cannons, etc) gave rise to the name "gun money". A complete cast copper alloy token, probably dating to the 17th century AD (diameter: 19mm; thickness: 2mm; weight: 3.6g).
The token is circular in plan and flat in section and is decorated on both sides. On one side, there is a rather crude 6-pointed star. On the opposing side, there appear to be a central recessed line running across the token's diameter with possible illegible numbers ot either side, although one of these numbers may read a '6' or '9'. Overall, the artefact is in a worn and corroded condition with a patchy dark green patina.

An incomplete struck/ hammered brass jetton of Hans Krauwinckell II, dating between AD 1586 (when he became a master) -1635, when he died (diameter: 21.4mm; thickness: 0.3mm; weight: 0.61g). The jetton bears the name ‘Hanns’ to define Hans Krauwinckel II from his uncle Hans I, who also issued jettons. It is an example of a rose and orb edition and has regular die axes, always aligned at 12 o’clock. The jetton is slightly worn but in a fair condition and is broken around the edges.
