It is of copper alloy, probably of pinchbeck, a brass, mainly of copper with some zinc, invented in the 18th century as a cheap imitation of gold and often used for medals. It is an English medal commemorating the victories of Frederick the Great over the French at Rosbach and the Austrians at Lissa in the Severn Years War. Medalet or counter, probably of Charles II of copper alloy 0.8mm thick with a diameter of 19mm, weighing 1.15g. The object is corroded and almost completely illegible. The reverse inscription may be QVATOR [MARIA VINDICO] which means I claim the four seas. This occurs on pattern farthings of Charles II. This piece appears to be a cheap medalet voicing the same sentiment. No parallel has been found.
