Copper-alloy coin weight for a laurel of James I (1603-25). Mass: 8.5g; length: 17.8mm; width: 18.1mm. Square. Obverse: Crowned XXs within a pellet circle, and a crowned I stamped in the top left hand corner. Reverse: Bust of James I, laureate, within a pellet circle. Die axis: 6 O’clock. A complete post-medieval copper-alloy laurel (20s) coin weight with the official counterstamp/verification mark of James I (1603-1625). The coin weight is square in plan. Length: 18.8mm; width: 19.2mm; thickness: 3.3mm. Mass: 7.8g. On the obverse is a raised laureate bust within a circle of pellets. On the reverse there is a raised crown surmounting the value - XXs (i.e. 20 shillings). In the top left corner of the reverse there is the official counterstamp/verification mark of James I. A complete cast copper alloy coin weight, dating to the Post Medieval period, between AD 1600 - 1800 (15mm x 14.5mm; thickness: 3mm; weight: 5.0g). The coin weight is a slightly uneven square in plan and flat in section. The artefact is irregularly stamped on both sides with four dots. The artefact is in a slightly worn but fair condition.
