A copper alloy coin weight dating from the 18th century. It is marked: "S D / 5 & 3 / 1 • 8" on both faces, meaning five shillings and three pence; one pennyweight and eight grains. This weight would have been part of a series used between 1760 and 1773 to weight the Portuguese moidore and "joe" gold coins. See page 52 of Lions Ships and Angels by Withers and Withers.

A complete cast copper alloy coin weight for a Thistle Crown of post-Medieval date (1601-1620). The coin weight is square in plan and sub-rectangular in cross-section and has slightly bevelled edges. One side of the coin weight depicts a crown with IIIIS below it and 4D 1/2 below that. All these elements are contained within a circle formed from sub-oval pellets. However, most of the pellets are off the flan. The other side has a crowned thistle. The thistle divides the initials I R in the field. A cast lead Post-Medieval token. A lion rampant is depicted on one face. The other face is worn but there is possibly some lettering. The token is rather crudely made and dates to the 17th or 18th century. Weight 13.73g, diameter 30.15mm, thickness 2.24mm. See Bailey - Finds Identified- page 10.
