The coin has been pierced, drilled from the obverse, behind the bust, with a mark left by initial drilling to the left of this. If a halfgroat, these would be in line with the two pellets behind the bust.

A silver Post Medieval coin of Edward VI (AD 1547 - 1553), uncertain issue and date. The coin has been cut into two pieces, the centre removed, and the remaining crescents folded round each other. One piece was bent into a loop, and the other was folded round the loop, with one end tucked through it and bent to secure it. They remain linked but not adhered to each other.
