A slightly worn and abraded copper alloy coin weight of post medieval (Elizabethan) date, made for weighing the gold crown (possibly of the double rose); which was the equivalent of 5 shillings and weighed 48 grains of Henry VIII and Edward VI (1526-49). The coin weight is uni-faced and square in plan, sub-rectangular in cross section. The design on the front face of the weight is positioned so that weight is aligned on its point, like a diamond. It consists of a centrally positioned double rose, rose within a rose, which is crowned. Both roses are formed from five sets of petals each.…

A copper alloy coin weight; probably post-Medieval. The weight is in bad condition and fairly illegible. A possible crown and facial outline (facing left) can be seen, with a pellet behind. The legend and reverse are illegible. The crowned busts could represent Elizabeth I, James I, Charles I or Charles II. The weight has green patina in places, with a dark brown hue. It measures 22.6mm diameter x 5.1mm, weighing 13.59g/0.479oz.

A cast, copper alloy coin weight of Continental manufacture, dating from 1611-1644AD. It is double sided, one side carrying the device of a raised right hand and the initials G D, indicating that it originates from Antwerp and the workshop of G. Van Dunwalt, which is known to have operated between these dates (see Withers, Lions, Ships and Angels, page 60). The other side is largely illegible. It is 15.8mm square and weighs 6.68gm. This find was recorded from an export licence.

A cast, copper alloy, coin weight of early post-medieval date, probably dating from 1530-1600AD. It is square and double sided. One side carries the device of a crowned rose and the other that of a hand within a wreath. These markings suggest that it was of Continental manufacture, the hand being the mark for Antwerp in the Low Countries, and that it was used to weigh the gold crowns issued during the reigns of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I between 1526 and 1548. A cast, copper alloy coin weight dating from 1740-1770AD. It is double sided, each side bearing a raised inscription reading S 36, indicating that it was used to weigh the Portuguese gold 4 escudos, valued then at thirty six shillings. It is 23.3mm in diameter and weighs 14.19gm. This find was recorded from an export licence and there is therefore no accurate measurement of the thickness available. Identical examples are illustrated in Withers, Lions, Ships and Angels, page 53.

A modern religious medallion made from copper alloy. It has the words 'watch and pray' around the edge and depicts a cross and lion. The letters IC are shown to the left of the cross and the letters CP to the right of the cross. The ICSP was inaugurated in 1909 and stands for the ‘Incorporated Church Scout Patrols’ which was a part of the scouting movement.
