An incomplete and extremely abraded Post Medieval Tudor period silver coin. No detail can be seen on the obverse but the image of the Royal shield and the part legend PO[...]/DEV[...] can just be made out on the reverse. This legend is probably a variant of POSUI DEUM ADIUTOREM MEUM which translates as "I have made God my helper". The legend was in use on various coin denominations throughout the Tudor period but judging by the size and weight of this coin it is most likely a groat or sixpence of Elizabeth I (1558-1603 AD). A cast copper alloy coin weight depicting a rose with a crown above (on one side) and a crown with the letters IIS // VID (on two lines) below (on the other side). The coin weight is square in shape and is made from a very thin plate of flat copper alloy. This type of coin weight would have been used to weigh coins of Elizabeth I.
